Part of a journey is reminding yourself how far you have come. This especially helps when motivation is low, or when there are feelings of discouragement. It is equally important to feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
I am a part of a huge community of men and women who are working hard at their weight loss journey. In this community we cheer each other on, post photos of before/during/after, and share victories and challenges.
An outsider could look at this and think, “enough of the photos already!”, “why do they always have to brag?”, and, “geeze it’s like they want attention!”.
The gal in the top photos above felt trapped in her own skin. She often hid from things because of her body. The gal in the bottom photos still looks in the mirror and at times sees the one in the top. So, photos are a reminder of the hard work. Photos also help others who may be struggling realize that it is possible to meet their goals.
Flaunt it. Show off how great you feel. Embrace progress, not perfection. Peel away that old body (Physically and mentally) and free yourself from the prison it represented.
Healthy is also key! You do not look healthy in the top pictures but in the bottom ones you do~ I agree tho that it is about more than making your outer body healthy and more about the many layers of who you are that need love and attention to fully heal and be whole. The community that you have developed thrives because its members are human first, reaching out to either help one another or lean on another for success.
I love how you say “the layers” of who we are
This post is important. I know personally along my get fit journey I do not commend myself for the strides i have made. I was afraid of photos when i was out of shape and now i think i habitually avoid but i need to step out! Great post
Thank you Jessica!
Yes, I love this! I try to jog daily so I can fit into my pants. I want to be around for my kids for a long time. I know I won’t give up my sweets, so at least I try to jog!
Good for you! My kids are my motivation too. Have you heard of StepBet? It’s an app where you can “bet” $40 to meet step goals over a 6 week period- that has been motivating me a lot lately!
Oh wow! This is awesome 🙂 Never be afraid to share photos and tell the world your story. It is so great and inspiring to read!
Thank you!
You look amazing! This is so inspiring. Rock on!
Thank you!
Great Job , i have been struggling for a few years with weight due to health issues and somehow have not been able to get it together . This is very encouraging
Thank you! It definitely is work! Keep pushing forward ❤️
I say keep posting those pictures as you earned this. It also may just inspire someone else to get off the couch.
Such a good point, because I know my motivation comes from seeing the success of others!
It’s so important to remember where you used to be when you’re working towards a goal! It’s so easy to get discouraged because you haven’t made the final goal yet even though you’ve already come a long way.
Yes! It’s important to continually remind ourselves how far we have come!
You should always celebrate your accomplishments, hence carry on posting more photos! Because you earned it! Well done you!
Thank you ❤️
This is a great motivation to the rest of us. Whether our challenge is fat loss, blogging or becoming a digital nomad. Kudos to you Kristen.
You are so right- there are a lot of things we need to be celebrating!
Looking great Kristen!! Enjoy the results of your hard work. The worse part is starting to work out (tell me about it lol) and eating healthy. You’ve done great! Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you ❤️ the motivation definitely comes and goes!
You look amazing! Keep us posted on your progress!
Thank you for cheering me on!
Yesss! It is so important to be able to find within yourself the courage and the strength to be your very own encourager.
You said this so well- it also is important to cheer ourselves on!
I’ve been on my fit journey for about 2 years now and I always reminisce on old photos, it’s taking long but the progress is there!
We have to! Good for you being steadfast in your journey!
Thanks for introducing us to your amazon experience. I imagine how therapeutic it is to write about yourself and sharing with the world.
Keshia you hit the nail on the head- it is therapeutic!
This is encouraging. You have done a great job. Health is prior to everything.
Wow! As someone who is having difficulty with losing weight this is really inspiring. Having a community that has the same goals is really important. Cheers!
The community is what has helped me the most- the support and encouragement!
You can do this!
Wow truly inspiring. I too just started my journey to losing weight and completely relate. Hope to have my own before and after photos soon!
definitely take lots of photos. I wish i took more in the beginning. many times when the number on the scale didn’t move, I would see a difference in pictures! keep it up!
Definitely should.
You look amazing lady, you’ve done so well on your journey.
Thank you!!!
This is so inspiring. I am also on my weight loss journey and proud of my progress.
Good for you! yes we need to be proud, because we DESERVE IT!
Absolutely! Sometimes, we just need to pat our backs and congratulate ourselves for the far we’ve come. It’s good when you can recall it all and be proud!
agree completely! we need to be our own #1 Fan!
Congratulations! Keeping ourselves healthy is a daily task and many times we forget to give ourselves a pat on the back! The pictures are a great way to keep track of our accomplishments when losing weight.
What a wonderful transformation! So inspiring. I love the message you send too. I love the “layers” reference. Well written.
